Fire Damage to a Darien Bedroom

The French doors leading out to the patio were quickly consumed by the fire caused by the barbecue grill. The flames were extinguished fast enough to limit the fire damage to the one wall, part of another wall and the doors and framing. By calling SERVPRO out immediately, the homeowner in this Darien home prevented on-going damage caused by the smoke and soot. We advised the owner to turn off the HVAC system to prevent further circulation of the smoke and soot to unaffected areas of the house. We removed the charred debris. Our IICRC certified techs then used special dry sponges to wipe down the soot from the furniture, walls, and ceiling. We activated air scrubbers utilizing both carbon and HEPA filters to help eliminate odors and to capture micron sized soot from causing further damage. It was a process that resulted in another very satisfied customer.
