Tip for Owning Multiple Houses

We responded to a phone call from a concerned neighbor seeing water flow out of a house that was not being lived in full time. This was the homeowner's summer house near the water in Midway, GA. The house had a pipe burst. Water seemed to flow from room to room soaking into the carpet, walls, and furniture. We did not know how long the water was flowing before the neighbor saw it.
Our crew discovered that there was more than water damage at this property; mold had started to grow on the wall and other contents in the room.
We respond to these calls more often than people think due to the area in which we live. So many houses are vacation homes to families that aren't living near this area. This is a reminder to shut off your water if you will be gone for a long period of time. You never know if a pipe would burst or a toilet would overflow while you are gone. It would also be a great idea to have someone come in the home weekly or more often for a walk through to make sure everything is perfect in your home.
