Approximately 6.5 million animals are entered into U.S. animal shelters nationwide each year. Of those, approximately 3.3 million are dogs and 3.2 million are cats.
Each year, approximately 1.5 million shelter animals are euthanized (670,000 dogs and 860,000 cats).
Approximately 3.2 million shelter animals are adopted each year (1.6 million dogs and 1.6 million cats).
Animals play a very important role in our everyday lives. Having an animal as a pet gives you a sense of companionship but it also helps with emotional support, reduces stress levels, sense of loneliness, and helps us to increase our social activities. Pets are very beneficial to our emotional, mental, & physical health. For children, having a pet can help with self-esteem and positive emotional development.
Having a pet allows you to be responsible for someone other than yourself and make you appreciate the innocence in the world. For some people, their pet is all they have in life and may be the very reason they wake up each morning.
Here at SERVPRO we value and appreciate the bond a person has with their fur-baby. We want to hear your story. Did you decide to adopt a fur-baby and give it a fur-ever home, if so then please share your story with us, don’t forget to share pictures.
